For actors ready to move beyond exercises and into sustained scene work.
Designed for those ready to build on their Scott Studio experience, this eight-week scene study lab is for participants prepared to make a commitment to rehearsal, collaboration, and growth. Working with assigned scenes and scene partners, you'll deepen your rehearsal process through text analysis, character exploration, collaboration, and truthful storytelling.
The work we begin in class is expected to continue throughout the week. Weekly homework, and rehearsal between classes are essential parts of the process, helping each participant build on the previous week's discoveries. Whenever possible, scene partners are encouraged to rehearse together between classes. This is not a drop-in workshop, but a collaborative ensemble where each person's preparation contributes to everyone else's learning.
Our goal is not perfection. Our goal is progress. In Week Eight, we'll share our “work in progress” with a small, invited audience, celebrating the work, the discoveries, and the rehearsal process itself.

Every play has a story to tell. Every play also has a story behind its telling. Together, we'll discover both.
Great plays are meant to be heard.
Join a small group of theatre lovers as we gather around the table to discover six remarkable plays through the simple act of reading them aloud together. Whether you've spent years on the stage or simply enjoy great storytelling, Speak the Speech offers an opportunity to encounter dramatic literature in a relaxed, welcoming, and collaborative environment.
Each week, participants will receive a professionally published script selected especially for the group. Each session will begin with a guided introduction to the playwright, the world of the play, and the circumstances that brought it to the stage. Through stories, historical context, and conversation, we'll discover not only the play itself, but the story behind its telling, before bringing it to life together around the table.
The reading list will be selected following registration to reflect the interests and makeup of the group, with an emphasis on contemporary voices, Canadian playwrights, works by women, and other underrepresented voices. Providing professionally published scripts ensures everyone is working from the same edition while supporting the playwrights and publishers whose work we explore.
No pressure to perform. Just curious people, remarkable plays, thoughtful conversation, and the pleasure of discovering why these stories continue to speak to us today.

Post-secondary theatre auditions involve much more than choosing a monologue.
Every school has its own requirements, expectations and audition process. Knowing where to begin—and how to bring it all together—can feel overwhelming.
You don't have to figure it out alone.
For many years I've coached students through the post-secondary audition process. Ready for the Room is the first opportunity for students to prepare together—learning not only through individual coaching, but by observing and supporting one another throughout the process.
Over six weeks we'll work together on selecting and refining material, interviews, self-tapes, cold readings, improvisation, presentation, professionalism, and the confidence that comes from knowing you've done the work.
Tuition includes one private online coaching session, scheduled during the course, allowing each student to focus on the area of greatest benefit to them. Additional private coaching sessions may be booked at any time during the workshop—or afterwards—as auditions approach.
Drawing on more than four decades of professional experience as an actor, director and educator, my goal is simple: When the day of your audition arrives, you'll be... Ready for the Room.
